Guided Plan

How Guided Plan Coaching Works

Get a coach who knows the pressure of SQE1 because they've been through it. Together you'll make a workable study plan, tackle the law and questions that trip you up, and keep going when confidence dips.

  • £1,500 · £750 with LAUNCH50
  • Two SQE1 sittings
  • 20 live coaching hours

The short version

You get the full SQE Cracker platform for two SQE1 sittings and 20 hours of live one-to-one coaching with someone who has passed SQE1. Your coach helps you understand what to study, work through the questions and legal ideas holding you back, and build confidence as well as technique. Your written plan, weekly feedback and messages come on top of those hours. If a week goes wrong, they help you get back on track. If you do the work and don't pass at your first sitting, we add 8 more hours for your second. If you still do not pass after both sittings, you may qualify for a refund of the platform part of the price.

1What Your Coach Does

Your coach is a mentor as well as an exam-prep guide: someone who remembers the pressure, the doubts and the work behind SQE1. They help you decide what matters this week, talk through problems in your practice and keep you accountable without making you work through a difficult stretch alone.

What to study, and what to leave alone

After your kick-off you get a written Personal Exam Plan built from your diagnostic results and the weeks you have. It sets the order of subjects, your weekly targets and your mock dates, and lists what you can cover lightly. It changes as your numbers change.

How to answer the questions

SQE1 is single-best-answer questions against the clock: from January 2027, 85 questions in 2 hours 33 minutes per session. Your coach teaches you a step-by-step way to work through each one, a pace you can hold, and how to find out whether you're losing marks on knowledge or on technique.

When the law is the sticking point

Bring recurring mistakes and difficult topics to your calls. Your coach can unpack the legal rule, work through how it applies to the facts and point you to the right material to revisit. Some of our coaches are law professors, so the support can draw on teaching experience as well as first-hand SQE1 experience. The platform's topic packs, question bank and AI tutor give you the full syllabus to study between calls. This is personal help with your preparation, rather than a separate taught law course.

How to use the materials you already have

If you've already paid for BARBRI, QLTS, ULaw or another course, your coach helps you choose a main source for each subject and builds it into your plan. They'll help you avoid needless repetition; you won't be asked to abandon the materials you already trust.

Whether you're keeping to the plan

Every week you report how it went, and your coach replies by the next working day. They help you adjust the plan when work, life or self-doubt gets in the way. If you go quiet, they get in touch.

2How a Week Works

Every week follows the same loop until your exam.

When: Start of the weekStep: PlanWho: You and your coachWhat happens: Agree realistic targets: topics, practice questions and any mock, around the time you actually have.
When: During the weekStep: PractiseWho: YouWhat happens: Study, answer questions, and log every mistake you make.
When: End of the weekStep: ReportWho: YouWhat happens: A short check-in: hours studied, targets hit, your numbers, and what went wrong.
When: Next working dayStep: ReviewWho: Your coachWhat happens: Written feedback on what's working, what's stuck and what to change next.
When: Once a weekStep: CallWho: TogetherWhat happens: Talk through your questions, your confidence and the next step in your plan.

3Your 20 Live Hours

All 20 hours are one-to-one calls on Google Meet, at times you and your coach agree. Your kick-off comes first and isn't counted in them.

The table below is an example, not a fixed schedule. You and your coach agree how the hours are used, based on how long you have until your exam, what you need most and what your coach thinks will help. It can change as you go.

Session: Weekly callsLength: About 16 × 30 minHours: 8What it's for: Go through the week against the plan and set the next one
Session: Mock debriefsLength: 4 × 60 minHours: 4What it's for: Where the marks went in your timed mocks, and why
Session: Technique clinicsLength: 3 × 60 minHours: 3What it's for: Question technique, timing and the topics or rules behind recurring mistakes
Session: Final-weeks callLength: 1 × 60 minHours: 1What it's for: About four weeks out: your plan for the last stretch, your timing and exam day
Session: Results callLength: 1 × 30 minHours: 0.5What it's for: What happens next, whatever the result
Session: ReserveHours: 3.5What it's for: Kept back for whatever you need most
Session: TotalHours: 20

With fewer weeks there are fewer weekly calls and more time in reserve. With more time, early calls can be fortnightly. Your hours last until your platform access ends after your second included sitting.

4Included on Top of Your Hours

None of these come out of your 20 hours:

  • Your kick-off call, which usually runs about 90 minutes and can go longer if you need it
  • Your Personal Exam Plan, written within three working days of your kick-off and updated as you go
  • Written feedback on every weekly check-in, by the next working day
  • Messages to your coach, answered within one working day, Monday to Friday, for planning, technique and keeping you on track. Bring deeper law questions to your calls; use the platform's topic packs and AI tutor between sessions
  • Catch-up calls, if you fall behind and need to rebuild your plan

5How You'll Learn to Answer Questions

Here is a short practice question, worked through the way your coach will teach it. Most of the work happens before you read the options.

Practice example · Contract

In March, a man's friend repaired the man's garage roof. The man had not asked for the repair, and nothing was said about payment. In April, the man promised to pay the friend £500 for the work. He has not paid.

Which of the following best describes whether the man's promise is enforceable?

  1. A. Enforceable, because the repair was done to a reasonable standard. (Answers a different question.)
  2. B. Enforceable, because the man made the promise freely after the work. (The trap: it sounds fair, but it isn't the rule.)
  3. C. Not enforceable, because the friend's consideration was past. (Best answer. The work wasn't requested and came before the promise.)
  4. D. Not enforceable, because promises between friends are never legally binding. (“Never” is too absolute.)
  5. E. Not enforceable, because the promise was not made in writing. (This promise doesn't need to be in writing.)

The six steps

  1. Call. Read the last line first. What exactly is being asked?
  2. Spot. Name the area of law, then find the facts that decide it. Here: “had not asked”, and March before April.
  3. Predict. Answer it in your head before you look at the options.
  4. Eliminate. Cross out anything wrong in law, off the question, or absolute.
  5. Choose. Take the best of what's left. You're not looking for a perfect answer.
  6. Move. Two and a half minutes at most. Flag it, pick your best guess and go on. Never leave one blank.

The mistake log

Every wrong answer gets one code. Whichever code comes up most often decides what you work on next week.

Code: KName: Didn't know itWhat happened: You didn't know the rule
Code: RName: MisreadWhat happened: You missed a fact, or answered a different question from the one asked
Code: AName: MisappliedWhat happened: You knew the rule but applied it to the facts wrongly
Code: TName: TrapWhat happened: You picked an answer that is true but isn't the best one
Code: PName: PaceWhat happened: You rushed, or ran out of time
Code: DName: DoubtWhat happened: You changed a right answer to a wrong one

6What We Ask of You

Coaching only works if you do your part. When you join, you agree to:

  • set realistic weekly study hours at your kick-off, and tell your coach when they change
  • send your weekly check-in on the day you agree
  • turn up to calls, or move them with at least 24 hours' notice
  • sit the timed mocks in your plan, each one in a single sitting
  • keep your mistake log
  • share your platform progress with your coach. You choose what they can see.

When a week goes wrong

If: You miss a check-inWhat your coach does: Gets in touch within one working day.
If: You miss two in a row, or hit less than half your targets two weeks runningWhat your coach does: Offers a catch-up call to rebuild the plan around the hours you have. It doesn't come out of your 20 hours.

7Second-Sitting Top-Up

Your platform access already covers two sittings. If you don't pass SQE1 at your first, we add 8 more hours of live coaching and a new plan for your second, as long as you:

  • sat the paper or papers you needed at your first included sitting
  • attended at least 80% of your scheduled calls, or moved them with notice
  • sent at least 80% of your weekly check-ins (up to two agreed break weeks don't count)
  • completed at least 4 timed mock sessions on the platform, 2 for FLK1 and 2 for FLK2
  • claim by email within 45 days of getting your result, with a copy of it

Any of your original 20 hours you haven't used carry over too. Top-up hours have no cash value and end when your platform access ends.

Pass guarantee

If you do not pass at two consecutive sittings, we refund eligible platform fees: up to £250 under the launch offer or £500 at the standard price. Complete six full timed mocks before your first sitting and four further mocks before your second, scoring at least 65% on each outstanding FLK in the final mock before each sitting. Coaching fees are excluded; unused hours are refundable separately. Terms apply.

8Who Coaches You

Every approved coach has sat and passed SQE1 and knows first-hand what it takes to prepare for it. Some also teach law professionally, including law professors. You can choose an available coach after you sign up and before you pay. They're there to listen as well as challenge you: to notice when you're stuck, help you make a plan you can live with, and hold you to it. If the relationship isn't working, tell us and we'll help you move to another coach. Your plan and remaining hours move with you.

9How It Compares

Other options do other jobs well. This is what each kind of SQE1 preparation usually includes.

Option: Full SQE1 prep coursesUsual price: About £2,000 to £7,100Human support: Tutor or coach support comes bundled with a law course, and is often there when you ask for itSomeone checking your progress: Varies. Usually you book it yourself.

Option: Question banks and AI tutorsUsual price: From about £25 a monthHuman support: None, or an AI that explains the lawSomeone checking your progress: No
Option: SQE Cracker Guided PlanUsual price: £1,500Human support: 20 live hours of study, law and exam-technique support, plus weekly written feedbackSomeone checking your progress: Yes. Your coach checks in every week and helps you reset when you fall behind.

Price ranges are taken from providers' published SQE1 prices in September 2026. Individual providers vary.

10Common Questions

Is this a law course?

The platform provides the full law curriculum. Your coach can still discuss a rule you're struggling with, work through practice questions with you and help you apply the law under exam conditions. That can be especially useful if you're new to English and Welsh law or changing careers. Coaching is personal SQE1 preparation support, not legal advice or SRA-authorised training.

What happens after I pay?

Your platform access starts straight away. You'll already have chosen your coach before checkout, and your welcome email has a Calendly link to book your kick-off call on Google Meet. It usually runs about 90 minutes, can go longer if you need it, and doesn't come out of your 20 hours. Your Personal Exam Plan follows within three working days of that call.

What if I miss a call?

You can move a call for free with 24 hours' notice. If you miss one or cancel later than that, the time comes out of your hours. The first time that happens in each sitting because you're ill or have an emergency, we won't count it. If we cancel, nothing is deducted.

Can I cancel?

You have 14 days from purchase. If you haven't used the platform or had a call, you get a full refund. If you have, we refund what you haven't used. Section 5 of our Terms has the detail. If you cancel coaching while your access is active, unused original live hours can be refunded at £25 per hour under the launch offer or £50 per hour at the standard price, subject to the amount you have paid and the missed-session rules.

What does my coach see?

Only what you choose to share. Your private notes and AI tutor conversations are never shared. Calls aren't recorded unless you agree.

Can we go through the questions from my exam?

No. SRA rules keep real SQE questions confidential, so your coach won't ask about them. You can talk about how the exam went, your timing and how you felt.

What if you can't provide my coaching?

If your coach becomes unavailable, we move you to another coach with your plan and remaining hours. If we can't provide the rest of your coaching within a reasonable time, you get a fair refund for what you didn't receive.
